                                             In plain sight

One Sunday, while getting ready for our church service, I decided to wear a certain tie combo that I hadn’t worn in a while.  My wife did not care for the tie and hanky combination, but I liked it.  I wanted to do something different, so I chose to use my lapel hanky in my shirt.  As I began the process of putting my outfit together, I found the tie but couldn’t find the hanky.  After awhile, I had to give up the search to find something suitable for service.  A few days later I was cleaning and I saw the hanky in plain sight under the ironing board.

Why couldn’t I have seen it before?  Maybe I was in a rush and didn’t move things around enough; or just didn’t take the time to look thoroughly.  The fact of the matter is that my things were not where they were supposed to be and all I can remember was the frustration I felt when I couldn’t find the pieces needed to complete my outfit.

Sit back and ask yourself…are there things in our lives that we have over looked; things in plain sight?  Are you in a hurry all the time?  Have you lost focus of your assignment or have you stumbled at something in Plain sight?  In 1 Peter 5:8 we are told to be sober, and vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walking about seeking whom he may devour.

Brethren let us be careful in our spiritual walk; for the devil is looking for us to miss the mark by overlooking the important matters in our spiritual life.  When we rush and overlook vital elements such as prayer, reading our bible and attending our services, we tend to lose our focus and can’t see the enemy in plain sight!  Then we fall because we simply didn’t pay attention!  So slow down, and take the time to prepare ahead and put things were they belong just as I tried to do with my shirt, tie and hanky!
